Roscoe’s is Rochester’s Place for Barbeque!
So, what’s the story with Roscoe’s Root Beer & Ribs anyway? It all started back in 1981. Steve “Roscoe” Ross and his wonderful wife Barbara decided to chase the “American Dream” of owning their own restaurant. They came across an old A&W Root Beer stand on 4th St SE Rochester, Minnesota.
Roscoe and Barbara decided the first thing to do was tear down the drive-in awning. They painted the restaurant bright orange and began their pursuit of the best BBQ in America. When they hit on the right sauce and perfect meat, they entered the National Rib cook off in Cleveland and interestingly enough, Roscoe’s Root Beer & Ribs took 1st place Best Ribs.
Roscoe’s popularity grew tremendously. Customers from throughout Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin flocked to this little restaurant to satisfy their hunger for great BBQ.
Wondering how his BBQ stacked up against some of the nation’s best “ribbers,” Roscoe entered and won many nationally-recognized cook offs. Roscoe and Barbara always start with the best meat available on the market. Sure there are cheaper cuts of meat, but you won’t find Roscoe serving them!
Roscoe’s Root Beer & Ribs also is a very serious member of the community. Roscoe is always a willing participant of local fund raising for a variety of charities including Paws & Claws Animal Shelter, The Salvation Army and The Eagles Club.
The secret to the sauce is that it is hand mixed in small batches by Roscoe, (he won’t give anyone else the recipe), to insure a consistent product and freshness. A lot of love goes into Roscoe’s BBQ sauce.
Roscoe and (Arlo for the past several years) have been cooking Barbecue for 32 years now and he’s gotten pretty good at it. Tender succulent ribs, juicy chicken, fantastic pulled pork and thin sliced Brisket are just some of the delicious offerings at both Roscoe’s locations. The Burgers and the Philly Cheese Steak at Roscoe’s south location are another great reason to stop, some of the best in town. Roscoe’s Root Beer and Ribs south also features all your fried favorites, Cheese Curds, Onion Rings, Corn Dogs and everyone’s’ favorite JoJo Potatoes. With Mayo Park across the street it is a great place for families.
Stop by either Roscoe’s Barbeque location and enjoy great service, food and casual atmosphere.
